The Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) Endowment Fund is managed by the Yale Investments Office. It was started by Asian American alumni in the Summer of 2007 for current Asian and Asian American Yale students. Each year, a portion of the endowment’s return is used to cover costs for one-off initiatives like anniversary celebrations that are not already funded by Yale and the remainder is set aside for AACC capital improvements projects to ensure the physical space continues to meet the needs of the growing Asian and Asian American student population.
“As a former first-generation student, this fund brings together access to so many education options that I have cared deeply about. Your gifts allow that. You have done me a great honor by supporting the aspirations of Asian American students through to work of the Asian American Cultural Center. I see this fund as a testament to the strength and spirit of the Yale Asian American community across generations.”
Former Dean Mary Li Hsu, Yale College ‘80
The Dean Mary Li Hsu Discretionary Fund, named after the first AACC Director to also serve as an Assistant Dean for Yale College, is similarly managed by the Yale Investments Office. It was started by Deron Quon ‘94 and group of other Asian American alumni in the Spring of 2021 in conjunction with the AACC’s 40th anniversary. The endowment’s return will be used to fund various initiatives that support first-generation low-income Asian and Asian American Yale students, including, but not limited to, research and travel grants for professional development opportunities, as this population is steadily growing over these last few years. Any excess funds will go towards supporting academic programs that promote Asian American Studies at Yale.
